We aim to provide a secure and nurturing environment for individuals with learning disabilities in our supported living placements. We provide comprehensive support to empower service users with learning disabilities to thrive and reach their full potential.
We achieve this by providing person centred care and support through;
Individualized Care:
- Needs Assessment: We assess each individual’s specific learning disability and tailor support plans accordingly.
- Skilled Staff: Our carers have specialist training in learning disabilities who understand an individual’s strengths and weaknesses, and create strategies to address them.
Supportive Learning:
- Educational Support: We liaise with schools, specialists and other professionals to ensure they receive appropriate educational support, potentially including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Life Skills Development: We help them develop daily living skills like dressing, meal preparation, and personal hygiene, broken down into manageable steps.
Social and Emotional Wellbeing:
- Communication Support: We implement tools and techniques to enhance communication, considering picture cards or assistive technologies.
- Socialization Activities: We create opportunities for positive social interaction with peers and caregivers and develop friendships with peers.
- Emotional Support: We provide a safe space for them to express themselves, develop healthy coping mechanisms, identify and manage their emotions effectively.
- Building Self-Esteem: We provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to help service users build confidence in their abilities.
Other Support:
- Sensory Integration: Some individuals with learning disabilities may have sensory processing issues. We provide a calming environment and sensory tools that support their sensory needs.
- Family Involvement: We support individuals to maintain regular contact with families and collaborate on the their care plans.
- Positive and Stable Environment: We provide a predictable routine and supportive relationships with caregivers which foster a sense of security.
- Collaboration: We regularly communicate with families, social workers, and educators to ensure a holistic approach to development.
